Highest Level of Professional Excellence
Truck Wreck Justice Attorney John W. Chandler Jr. is part of a long family tradition of Tennessee attorneys: his grandfather founded a Memphis law firm in 1908, and his father followed in those footsteps by joining the family practice in 1952. Today, John devotes his own personal injury law practice to helping the victims of negligent behavior with a focus on automobile and truck crashes as well as railroad accidents.
A member of the Truck Wreck Justice team since 2008, Mr. Chandler has successfully litigated and tried cases in state and federal court for victims who have suffered catastrophic injuries due to negligence. He has also represented the families and loved ones of those killed in automobile, tractor-trailer, and railroad crossing accidents throughout Tennessee and in several other states. He has obtained several noteworthy jury verdicts and settlements in excess of $1 million, a track record that qualified him for membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum beginning in 1985.
Mr. Chandler started practicing law with the Memphis firm of Burch, Porter & Johnson in 1978 and worked there until he relocated to Chattanooga and established a solo practice in 2001. He has published and lectured widely on the handling of automobile, truck, and railroad accident litigation, and he has served as the editor of the legal publication Handling Motor Vehicle Accident Cases, 2nd Edition (Thompson West) since 2001. He also served as chair of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) Railroad Litigation Section from 2000 to 2001.
Since 1984, Mr. Chandler’s peers in the legal industry have recognized him with a Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating of “AV” — a rating that Martindale-Hubbell calls “a testament to the fact that a lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence.”
The Chandler family tradition of law continues with John’s daughter Louise, who graduated from law school at the University of Memphis and currently practices as a contract attorney.
